About the Hearth of Freyja
The Hearth of Freyja is a coven based in the United Kingdom, practising Traditional Witchcraft with a particular focus on Norse paganism and heathenry. We take our name from Freyja — the Vanadís, the Lady — whose domain encompasses love, beauty, magic, death, and sovereignty.
Who We Are
We are a small, dedicated group of practitioners who came together through a shared calling to the Norse gods and a desire to build something lasting — a genuine spiritual community rooted in place, practice, and mutual care.
Our members come from varied backgrounds: some have practised for decades, others are newer to the path. What unites us is sincerity, a commitment to showing up, and a deep love for the gods of the North.
Our Tradition
We draw primarily from Norse and wider Germanic sources — the Eddas, the sagas, the historical and archaeological record — and we honour the full Norse pantheon while maintaining a particular devotion to the Vanir: Freyja, Freyr, and Njörðr.
Our practice includes:
- Blót — seasonal offerings and rituals honouring the gods and the cycles of the year
- Seiðr — the oracular and visionary magic associated with Freyja
- Rune work — study, meditation, and working with the Elder Futhark
- Ancestor veneration — honouring those who came before us
- Study and discussion — reading the lore, sharing knowledge, questioning and growing
Our Values
The Hearth of Freyja is an inclusive, anti-racist community. We are explicitly unwelcoming of folkish or ethnonationalist interpretations of heathenry. Our hearth is open to all who come with genuine devotion and respect for the gods, the lore, and their fellow practitioners.
We believe that the gods choose who they call. We will not second-guess them.
